This easy 5-ingredient chicken parm is a family favorite recipe that is perfect for busy weeknights!
Ingredients for 5-Ingredient Chicken Parmesan
- Boneless Skinless Chicken Breast: I bought regular breasts and pounded them thin but you can buy the thin chicken cutlets from the store. I have also heard people make this recipe with boneless skinless chicken thighs! Use whatever you have on hand! You will need about 4-6 pieces of chicken for this recipe. You could also use chicken tenders if you want!
- Italian Breadcrumbs or Panko: Italian bread crumbs or Italian-seasoned panko works best for this recipe. If you have plain crumbs at home you can season them yourselves also! If you want to mix panko and breadcrumbs for extra crispy edges feel free to do so!
- Eggs: I used eggs to drip the chicken in so the breadcrumbs would have a good surface to stick on.
- Italian Cheese Blend: I used a blend of mozzarella, provolone, and parmesan cheese. You could also just top with mozzarella or provolone. Using fresh cheese will produce the best results! Sometimes the pre-shredded cheese doesn’t melt as nicely!
- Marinara Sauce: To save time, you can use store-bought sauce, or you can choose to make homemade marinara sauce!

5-Ingredient Chicken Parmesan
Ingredients
- 4-6 boneless, skinless chicken breasts pounded thin
- panko or Italian breadcrumbs Italian seasoned
- 26 oz marinara sauce
- 3 cheese Italian blend (mozzarella cheese, parmesan cheese, and provolone cheese)
- 2 eggs beaten
Instructions
- Pound your chicken breasts until they are about a 1/2 inch thick. You want less thickness of your chicken breasts so they cook evenly and have that classic chicken parm look! Grab a shallow bowl and fill it with breadcrumbs and another other with the whisked egg mixture. Then coat them in the egg wash then the breading mixture. Make sure to press the crumbs down hard so they do not fall in the cooking process! (For crispier crust, dip chicken in flour first, then the egg, then the panko!)
- Heat up a skillet with a little olive oil and shallow fry your chicken for 4-5 minutes per side until crispy and golden brown.
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit will you are finishing up the chicken. Coat a baking dish with some of the pasta sauce then place your chicken in a single layer on top of it. Spoon a few tablespoons of sauce on top of each chicken breast and spread until fully coated. Sprinkle your favorite cheese blend on top of the chicken. I like to sprinkle a little bit on Italian seasoning on top for extra flavor!
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for ten minutes then remove the foil and bake for another couple minutes until it is your desired crispiness! (You can broil too to make the cheese extra crisp!) When internal temperature reached 165 you can remove from oven. Enjoy warm!
